Alberta farmland
On our way to Drumheller we passed through gorgeous valleys and fields of rolling hills. I was astonished that Alberta could be so beautiful. Endless farmland with frolicking cows was all the eye could see. It is nearly impossible to describe experiencing of being here. The only sounds are the peaceful winds blowing through the long grasses, crickets chirping, little creatures rustling around, and the odd moo of a cow. You feel a warmth surrounding you that is so cozy it makes you want to lay down in the grass, close your eyes and relax. All you can see is never-ending pastures and farmland, softly flowing creeks, clear blue sky, lush trees, and playful butterflies. The air smells so crisp and warm, and clean, so clean – is nothing like city air. In my hands all I had been my camera and there was no place else I wanted to be. This is what Alberta should be. If you want to see these beautiful plains take a trip down to Drumheller and travel on Alberta’s old highways. It is like nowhere else.

Thanks for visiting and following my blog “Musings of a Horse Mom.” … I was recently in Alberta on a short vacation and had the opportunity to travel the roads around Drumheller. You are right … it is an amazing part of the country. What boggles my mind is the Red River Valley which seemingly appears out of nowhere in the middle of the prairie … when you descend into it it’s like entering another world. … The day we were there it was hot with blazingly clear skies, so conditions were not great for photography.
