The Eagle and the Owls
The Bald Eagle, Great Grey Owl, and Northern Hawk Owl – we saw all of them on our drive last weekend to Lesser Slave Lake Provincial Park. We had a blast. I have seen quite a few bald eagles in my life. However, I have seen only ever seen one other owl – a great horned owl, and that was just a month ago. I am not sure if I just wasn’t paying attention to wildlife around me, if I wasn’t leaving the house enough, or I simply wasn’t in the right places at the right times to see owls. Seeing such beautiful birds was fantastic. On top of that we also saw two moose!
For Zac’s birthday I rented a 100 – 400 mm lens as a gift. He got some wonderful photos of the wildlife we saw through out the weekend. You can check out his wildlife here: Edmonton Wildlife. The lens I used was only a zoom up to 135 mm so I didn’t get any good photos of the Northern Hawk Owl. The Great Grey was so close to us and didn’t seem to be bothered at all by our presence. So I did get some great pictures of him, as you can see below.
I aspire to be a nature photographer. I couldn’t image a better and more fulfilling life than travelling the world and making a living by photographing the world around me. Living a life like this encompasses so much of what I love and makes me happy like travel, animals, photography, new things, and adventure. It will take a lot of determination and perseverance to live the life of my dreams. As long as I don’t allow peoples opinions to convince me otherwise, I know I can do it!
